School Policy Reminders

CELL PHONE POLICY
All cell phones MUST be away during classes! This is a non-negotiable. Failure to comply with the policy will result in the student being sent home and:
  • For dependent students, mandatory parent/caretaker conference and behavior contract.
  • For our independent students, mandatory conference and behavior contract.

TRUANCY POLICY
Did you know that missing 1 day of school per month means that a student is considered to be truant and missing 2 days means that the student is chronically absent? When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects, chances for graduating from high school, and completing a post-secondary program. School attendance is linked to financial freedom. What is keeping you/your child from coming to school today? Please discuss attendance challenges with your Advisor. Let's find a solution together.

LUNCH PASSES
Students will receive LUNCH PASSES every Tuesday to go out for lunch. This pass is based on grades and attendance (C+ average and 85% present--no more than 3 absences/month.)  Ms. @Schante' Frazier will generate a list and distribute the passes.

DEAN'S LIST REFERRALS
TIER 3 and TIER 4 Infractions will receive a referral. The following infractions are examples of those that will result in DEAN'S LIST referrals:
  • Cell Phone Violations
  • Cutting Class
  • Lateness

*Please make sure you are following the schedule. The only students able to leave early on Tuesdays and Thursdays are students that have an approved internship/certification program/work-based experience/ college-level courses at CCP. LTI /RWL Experience = Early Dismissal.

COVID POLICIES
For the first 10 days of the new school year–from August 29 through September 9–all students and staff will be required to wear masks while in school, regardless of the COVID-19 Community Level. This is an extra precaution for everyone’s health and well-being since increased end-of-summer social gatherings may heighten the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Masking may then become optional under specific circumstances. Our updated General COVID-19 Protocols for SY 2022-2023 can be found here.

Symptomatic Testing
In partnership with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), we are providing the opportunity for all staff--including those working remotely--to be tested for COVID-19 across the city if they become symptomatic. Mobile units are set up in the parking lot at each of the following locations and are open Monday-Friday 9 AM to 6PM:
  • Martin Luther King High School, 6100 Stenton Avenue Philadelphia , Pennsylvania 19138
  • South Philadelphia High School, 2101 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19148 (in the parking lot at the corner of Jackson and S Broad)
  • Samuel Fels High School, 5500 Langdon Street, Philadelphia PA 19124
  • Overbrook High School, 5898 Lancaster Ave, Philadelphia PA 19130
  • Thomas Edison High School, 151 West Luzerne Street, Philadelphia PA 19140
Students and staff can register for testing at these locations in two different ways:
*In the registration process you will be able to select the time and date for testing. If someone is unable to sign up for an appointment, these sites do accept walk-ins though priority is given to those who have pre-registered.

*This service is provided for convenience but is solely optional. All District staff and students, including those who are participating in 100% virtual learning, can be tested here at no cost.If you are experiencing COVID or new symptoms, PLEASE STAY HOME and get tested at one of the testing facilities.
